Our Story

York Alliance Church began as a Bible study nearly 100 years ago, officially becoming “Mission Church” in 1926. Despite changing the name with official membership in the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination in 1934, York Alliance has been part of several global and local mission movements over the past century. This includes places as far reaching as Burkina Faso in West Africa and Cambodia in Southeast Asia, as well as places like Hellam, Glen Rock, and Spring Grove, including being part of the Spring Grove Area Christian & Missionary Alliance Church plant in the early 90’s.

Over the past decade, York Alliance has developed strong partnerships with local churches and ministries, seeking to fulfill the call of “All of Jesus for the Whole Person for the Whole World.” This includes partnering with organizations that engage a wholistic ministry model, bringing health not just to the soul but to the body, mind, and emotions as well. These partnerships included connection with local Alliance churches, including strengthening the relationship with Spring Grove Area C&MA when their pastor, Nate Conklin, stepping onto the York Alliance staff part-time in the 2022.

Later in 2022, the YMCA of the Roses approached York Alliance regarding the Roth’s Church Road Community Partnership and the possibility of a new church within that community center. In many ways the opportunity of seeing a new church emerge in the Spring Grove community was the natural fruition of the growing partnership between York Alliance Church and Spring Grove Area C&MA.

Our prayer is that a new church, Spring Grove Alliance Church, will be launched in the Fall/Winter of 2024 out of the collaboration between York Alliance, Spring Grove Area C&MA, and several other families and organizations within the community. This church will meet at the Roth’s Church Road YMCA facility and be a full partner with the community of organizations there, including the YMCA, Windy Hill, Spring Grove Parks and Recreation, New Hope Ministries, and Training Leaders through Athletics. We are excited about the possibility of a new gospel-centered movement in Spring Grove, joining with other local churches who are serving this community and bringing the light and hope of Jesus into lives.

Our call is to “Be with Jesus, Become like Jesus, and Do as He Did” in the world around us. We believe that this is the highest calling that any of us can pursue. We have been praying, and continue to pray: “In Spring Grove as it is in Heaven!”
